nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Mechanical and
Aerospace Engineering. The Department fosters a vibrant community of faculty,
graduate, and undergraduate students with close ties to nearby government
research labs, institutes, and industry.
The Department confers MS and doctorate degrees in Mechanical and
Aerospace Engineering and a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, with options
in Aerospace, Biomechanical Engineering, Patent Law and Medical Preparation.
The Department has strong research programs in traditional as well as emerging
areas of mechanical and aerospace engineering, and expects to grow these
programs with new faculty in the near future.
The
Chair is expected to provide ideas and leadership to enhance the Department's
education and research programs, and be a strong advocate for the Department's
vision within an environment of shared governance. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a doctorate in mechanical or aerospace engineering, an
outstanding record in scholarship, curricular excellence, and research, and
credentials commensurate with appointment as a full professor with tenure in
the Department. The applicant should also have demonstrated a record of
leadership, management skills, and fiscal responsibility in an academic institution.
Review of applications will begin on January 2, 2008,
and will continue until the position is filled.
The anticipated start date is July 1, 2008. TO
