The patent law option in mechanical engineering leads to a
bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering while providing a strong
foundation in fundamental principles of patent law and the influences of
the US
patent system on modern engineering design. A student in this option
obtains background that can lead to work as a technical specialist in a
patent law firm or in the patent department of an industrial employer. The
option also provides excellent preparation for pursuit of a subsequent law
